Meet The Team: Valerie Rome

Valerie Rome is a medical student at Rowan-Virtua SOM. Her medical school research career began with the Summer Medical Research Fellowship (SMRF) program, where she directed the clinical study "Assessing Correlation Between Manual Dexterity, Specialty Choice, and Desire to Practice OMT in Newly Admitted Osteopathic Medical Students." Following her completion of the SMRF program, she received first place at the 27th Annual Rowan-Virtua SOM Research Day for her clinical work. Since then, her research contributions have expanded to include additional clinical trials, case reports, systematic and meta-analyses, letters to the editor, and narrative reviews. Valerie has presented numerous posters at professional conferences. Her enthusiasm for research and education is evident in her role as a Senior Mentor, where she advises and inspires aspiring medical researchers. Valerie continues to strive for success in both her academic and professional activities as she pursues her specialization in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Outside of research, Valerie was awarded the AACOM Gold Touch Award for her dedication to community involvement in line with osteopathic ideals. Outside of academia, she enjoys volunteering at Special Olympics events and local marathons, working out, reading fiction, and painting.
