Her enthusiasm for research and education is evident in her role as a Senior Mentor, where she advises and inspires aspiring medical researchers. Valerie continues to strive for success in both her academic and professional activities as she pursues her specialization in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Outside of research, Valerie was awarded the AACOM Gold Touch Award for her dedication to community involvement in line with osteopathic ideals. Outside of academia, she enjoys volunteering at Special Olympics events and local marathons, working out, reading fiction, and painting.
